I just read that the Bermuda gov't on Oct 13 voted to allow cruise ship casinos to open from 9 pm to (I believe) 4 am while tied up at the wharf. This was in response to a plus 30% drop in ships visits and the closed casinos was the most common reason. We are booked on Breakaway to Bermuda in August and I had googled casinos in Bermuda and that was the first item in the search.

Where do you suggest I store my luggages on the Breakway inside a mini-suite?

I don't remember the dimensions of the suitcases we take but the large ones easily fit under the bed. The smaller ones can be placed under the bed or in the closet if you want easy access to it.

How far are the beaches from the pier in Bermuda?

My favorite beach is Elbow Beach. You would have to use the public access road past the Elbow Beach resort. The most popular is probably Horseshoe Bay. If you like waves, they are better at Elbow but no lifeguards. If you're renting mopeds you can check out many beautiful beaches along the south shore. Just take a ride down some of the access roads and explore. One morning I sat alone at a south shore beach that did have so much as a footprint there. It was very secluded and it was pristine. Mopeds are best way to go. Bus system in Bermuda is quite good also. Bus stops indicated by blue & pink poles. If the top is pink bus is going toward Hamilton & blue tops means going away from Hamilton. Cabs are a little pricey but most drivers are happy to answer questions so you can also learn something about the island with most drivers.

As far as distance, depends on which pier as there are 3 cruise piers in Bermuda. Of the beaches mentioned Elbow is closest to Hamilton. (about 10 minutes) Horseshore Bay would be closest to Dockyard. Both of them are too far from St. George. I haven't spent much time on that end of the island.

Nothing is far in Bermuda - it's only about 20 miles end to end. Our favorite beaches are Horseshoe Bay between Dockyard and Hamilton, and Tobacco Bay in St. George's.

Snorkel Park Beach at the Dockyard is the only beach within walking distance. All others are primarily on the South Shore at least 10 miles away. You can get a bus or taxi from the Dockyard to Horseshoe Bay Beach which has changing facilities, snack bar, beach umbrella rentals, etc. It's one of the best beaches on the island. Bus/Ferry day passes can be purchased at the Dockyard.

The best beaches are Elbow Beach, Chaplin Bay, Horseshoe Bay are some of the best beaches. All of them are accessible using the local buses. I believe it is route # 7 (check on it). You can buy multi-day bus pass or single ride tokens.
Snorkel park beach is within walking distance of the beach but there is a small charge to use the beach and IMHO, it's not the best beach around.

Do i need to reserve a table and time for free style main restaurants?

answer 1
You do not need to make a reservation however on some at sea nights there is a large crowd that all seems to want to eat at the same time - an early dinner at 5:30 to 6:00 or even 6:30 pm usually means no wait and quick seating. When the time gets to be around 7 to 8 pm you may find yourself with a pager and a 15 to 30 minute wait.

Savor and Taste are directly across from each other and when busy you can barely make your way through all the people waiting outside of both dining rooms. The dining rooms are large but you get a more cozy feeling due to the room set up and 1/2 walls and such. Both places are busy and noisy.

The Manhattan Room is a "free" dining room with a modest dance floor in front of a small band. Depending on where you are seated you may find yourself next to a waiter drop off area for dishes, or in such a dark area that you can barely see what's on the menu. The dining room is very noisy and we found ourselves unable to enjoy the dinner where we were seated the first night. We went back again after we let the manager know of our disappointment and he made sure we were seated up by the dance floor where it was brighter, but still pretty noisy. Clattering dishes are all over the place with drop off "zones" every so many feet.

No reservations are needed, but you may want to go for an early or a late dinner to avoid the crowds.

For the complimentary dining rooms there are no reservations that I know of. It's show up when you want to dine and seating based on table availability. Just like going to a restaurant at home that doesn't take reservations. If there's a waiting time you'll be provided with a pager. You can make reservations for any of the Specialty restaurants.

no you do not need reservations for the main dining rooms. The best time to go is between 5:30 and 6:00 pm. There is usally not much of a wait at that time. If you go later there is some wait but not a long one. We never had to wait long at all for dinner. If you have a large group, you might need reservations but you can call the dinning room to find out.

Yes you need to bring a credit card that doesn't charge a fee for Bermuda dollar denominated transactions even though the Bermuda dollar is on par with the US dollar.
There is no conversion involved but the foreign currency transaction fee is charged anyway.

Yes of course. You can use US currency at the shops and restaurants. Since their economy is based on tourism, they do see a lot of US dollars and the merchants are happy to take either.
I would advice against using credit cards in a foreign country.

The US dollar is accepted in Bermuda; if you charge your expenses on the ship to your credit card, you will not incur transaction fees. You can pay down your on board expenses using cash prior to the end of your cruise if you wish.

Cash is only acceptable in the casino, all on board purchases are charged to your room via you key card which is secured via credit card at check-in without foreign fees. Refer to the following link:

In Bermuda US currency is accepted as well as credit card but not sure about foreign transaction fees.

liquor store on board that sells+has sales on different
varieties.Only problem is you get the liquor you
purchase after the cruise is over+the ship has docked

There is a shop, the Trade Winds that sell a variety of liquor with a selection of low priced to higher priced versions. It is fairly well stocked and the staff really do know their inventory and are more than happy to discuss the finer points of each brand or selection.

Liquor purchased on the cruise are set aside and held for you - whatever bottles you do purchase will be delivered to your room the evening before you disembark.

Liquor purchased on any of the islands are recorded and taken when you come back to the ship. These bottles will be delivered as well to your room the last night of the cruise.

Prices on the ship are good - and prices on the islands are even better.

GTY is for guarantee accommodation. The rate you got the room is a discount rate which means that the room will be assigned any time after the final payment is done. In some cases, the cabin may be assigned at the time of check-in. Log into your NCL account and check often for updates.
