Question

are there any free room upgrades at this time?

I booked a cruice in Oct 13 for an inside cabin on the 5th deck. Feb 14 I noticed that I can get the same price for a balcony so I called NCL and they upgraded me, increased my on board spending money from $25 to $100 and I even got around $50 bucks back. So I would call if you see the price down. Now I am departing soon and the price is back up. That is why I always book early get a better room and can always upgrade a few months before cruise but that is a gamble, but people do gamble on this ship.

The free category upgrade offer is only available at the time of booking, if they are running that promotion at that time. You could call NCL and check with them if you can upgrade for no charge. I doubt that you will get an upgrade but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Question

Is O'Sheehan's still open?

I haven't seen anything about the restaurant but I know it's on the breakaway. I'm going to Florida and the Bahamas in two weeks and I was wondering if there was a 24 hour place to eat.
Thanks!

Question

18 Years of Age and Alcohol?

If you are traveling with a different family than yours, how do you set up the waiver that allows you to drink alcohol as an 18 year old? Do you need to provide a written note from your parents that says you are allowed to purchase alcohol or can the family I am traveling with sign?

as an addendum, I was looking for some other information today and came across this from the NCL website around terms and conditions -- pretty much supports what I already posted about having a notarized letter from their parents:

Minors

A passenger under 18 years of age must be accompanied in the same or connecting stateroom by a passenger 18 years or older who expressly agrees to be responsible for the under 18 passenger throughout the cruise. This includes, but is not limited to, preventing the purchase or consumption of alcohol and preventing the violation of any ship rules. If the accompanying adult is not the minor's parent or legal guardian, an original, notarized parental/guardian consent letter that authorizes the minor's travel and further authorizes medical treatment in case of an emergency must be delivered to a Norwegian Cruise Line representative at the pier.

You should probably have a notarized affadavit from the parents that give you authority to make any decisions on behalf of them -- including items like emergency medical treatment. We've done that when we leave our kids with family to remove any doubt should something happen (fortunately, it hasn't).

Cirque dreams occurs about 3-4 nights per cruise. Log on to your MyNCL account about 45 days before your cruise and it will have the option to make the reservations. You can check the days and time there. You can also make the reservation on the ship.

Log into your My-NCL about 45 days before you cruise to get the schedule. They do not perform everynight. After you see the show, it's a wonder that they can do two performances in the same evening. It's a great show.

show and dinner reservations

we have three different parties on the Breakaway, how do I book shows and dinner reservations for all parties at once. Do I need to call NCL directly or place reservations with each party seperate.

You can also make reservations online before you sail. On NCL's website, log into your MyNCL account and select your vacation. You should see the option for shore excursions, dining & entertainment. The dining and entertainment options will be available 45 days (55 days if you are staying in a suite) before your sail date.

The dinner and entertainment reservations are slightly different. When you make the dinner reservation, you only need to specify the number of guests i.e. 6-8 guests. You will need to pay the cover charge online at the time of reservation. For entertainment reservation, the reservation can only be done for the guests staying in your stateroom. You will need to log into each account (one per stateroom) and make the reservation. You could call NCL and they should be able to make the reservation for all staterooms provided you know their reservation details.

can i cruise one way on the breakaway from Bahamas to ny?

asked 5 months, 3 weeks ago

No. The check-in process can only occur from the port from where the ship sails. You get your room key cards and your bags go through security screening. The ports where the ship visit (in your case Bahamas) are not set for it.
On the other hand, you can always take the ship from NY to Bahamas and cut short your cruise and disembark there. You will need to inform NCL about your intentions before you disembark. You will still have to pay the full price of the cruise.
