Question

18 Years of Age and Alcohol?

If you are traveling with a different family than yours, how do you set up the waiver that allows you to drink alcohol as an 18 year old? Do you need to provide a written note from your parents that says you are allowed to purchase alcohol or can the family I am traveling with sign?

as an addendum, I was looking for some other information today and came across this from the NCL website around terms and conditions -- pretty much supports what I already posted about having a notarized letter from their parents:

Minors

A passenger under 18 years of age must be accompanied in the same or connecting stateroom by a passenger 18 years or older who expressly agrees to be responsible for the under 18 passenger throughout the cruise. This includes, but is not limited to, preventing the purchase or consumption of alcohol and preventing the violation of any ship rules. If the accompanying adult is not the minor's parent or legal guardian, an original, notarized parental/guardian consent letter that authorizes the minor's travel and further authorizes medical treatment in case of an emergency must be delivered to a Norwegian Cruise Line representative at the pier.

You should probably have a notarized affadavit from the parents that give you authority to make any decisions on behalf of them -- including items like emergency medical treatment. We've done that when we leave our kids with family to remove any doubt should something happen (fortunately, it hasn't).

Cirque dreams occurs about 3-4 nights per cruise. Log on to your MyNCL account about 45 days before your cruise and it will have the option to make the reservations. You can check the days and time there. You can also make the reservation on the ship.

Log into your My-NCL about 45 days before you cruise to get the schedule. They do not perform everynight. After you see the show, it's a wonder that they can do two performances in the same evening. It's a great show.

Or check out NCL's wine list (link below) and purchase by the glass or bottle on the ship at any of the bars.

You can also make reservations online before you sail. On NCL's website, log into your MyNCL account and select your vacation. You should see the option for shore excursions, dining & entertainment. The dining and entertainment options will be available 45 days (55 days if you are staying in a suite) before your sail date.

The dinner and entertainment reservations are slightly different. When you make the dinner reservation, you only need to specify the number of guests i.e. 6-8 guests. You will need to pay the cover charge online at the time of reservation. For entertainment reservation, the reservation can only be done for the guests staying in your stateroom. You will need to log into each account (one per stateroom) and make the reservation. You could call NCL and they should be able to make the reservation for all staterooms provided you know their reservation details.

can i cruise one way on the breakaway from Bahamas to ny?

No. The check-in process can only occur from the port from where the ship sails. You get your room key cards and your bags go through security screening. The ports where the ship visit (in your case Bahamas) are not set for it.
On the other hand, you can always take the ship from NY to Bahamas and cut short your cruise and disembark there. You will need to inform NCL about your intentions before you disembark. You will still have to pay the full price of the cruise.

All three have a "View the Live Web Cam" link; Although when I just checked them, the 'Getaway' just showed an x in the small photo window.

To view them go to the Norwegian home page, hoover your mouse over 'Learn About Our Cruises' and select 'Cruise Ships', now hoover your mouse over 'View Details' of the ship you want to see and select 'Ship Overview'. The 'View the Live Web Cam' link is down a little on the left of the page.

They call it a Live Web Cam, but actually it is just a recent photo taken from the cam.

At that age where your 'just a little younger' peers can't join you in some of the areas, nor can you join them in some of the areas - can be frustrating at times. But you will find a lot of areas where you can mingle and have lots of enjoyment.
Here is the Norwegian Breakaway's web page on 'What's On Board': http://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/breakaway/onboard/activities#tab_detail
Enjoy your cruise.

An 18 year old is considered as a adult on the ship (except for alcohol consumption). You are allowed into all the clubs and late night parties. There are even daily meet and greet events for singles where you can socialize with other singles onboard the ship.
