No. The rooms won't be effected by the noise from the other floor. However, you may sometimes hear some noise from the TV in the stateroom next door or kids running outside. Nothing to worry about.

what doew GTY mean ?

A guarantee staterom (GTY) is one where there is no cabin number assigned at the time the reservation is made. A stateroom may be assigned any time after final payment has been receied, up to the day of sailing.

answer 2
It stands for Guarantee - you're guaranteed a stateroom in the general class. For instance, if you book a balcony GTY, you will get a balcony cabin, but you won't know which one until shortly before - or even the day of - the cruise. You're giving NCL flexibility in assigning staterooms in exchange for a lower fare.

No, you cannot bring booze on board. If you do it will be confiscated and returned at the end of the cruise. You can only bring wine or champagne on board but you will have to pay a corkage fee. Refer to the following link for more info.

None of the staterooms have microwaves. There are restaurants that are open most of the day. O'Sheehan's is open 24 hours and you have room service. You won't need a microwave.

No, for obvious safety reasons. There's a small fridge and coffee-maker (by the cup), but nothing to cook with.

Could you imagine the smell of burnt popcorn wafting through the cabins?

Not sure when your flight is, but assuming the ship is scheduled to dock at 8am (they usually arrive earlier); you could easily be off the ship by 9;30 - 10am. With NCL, on the last evening of your cruise you can go down to the Customer Relations area where you can select the color code corresponding to the estimated time of departure.
Certainly 10am is a reasonable time, it could be earlier, probably 9am if you had to rush it, you can walk off with your luggage and be one of the first off the ship.

That will depend on what time you decide to leave the ship.

In general, Suite guests followed by passengers walking off with their luggage are the first to disembark. Remaining passengers disembark in 20-30 minute intervals, based on the time slot they chose a day or two before return, beginning about 30-45 minutes after return to port. Usually the ship is cleared of all passengers within 2-3 hours of return to port.

What day is lobster night on the Breakaway? Is there a private cocktail party on the Breakaway (like on the Gem?) Thanks

The last time we sailed on the Breakaway they didn't have a lobster night in the main dining room but on the second night they had a seafood night in the buffet area only. They had lobster tail at the buffet.
There is a meet and greet event for latitude members. Since you have sailed on NCL in the past, you are a latitude member and you should get the invitation to the event along with the nightly newsletter.

I've read on the boards that it's the first night sailing in the MDR on most trips, but sometimes, there isn't one.

Not sure what sort of private party you're referring to. For guests in The Haven, yes, there's a an officer's reception, but not sure about anything else.

Question

Can my stateroom be changed once it's assigned with GTY ?

We sail 6/1/14 8 days to go. They gave me a room and it's an upgrade. Can they change it ? Also do I get all the amenities and services of the room I was upgraded to ?

My understanding is that yes, your GTY room can be changed up to the day of sailing. Not sure if NCL would give you an upgrade, and then downgrade - would leave a bad taste in most people's mouth to get, and then lose an upgrade.

If you are in a suite (with an Hx code in the Haven), then you would have access to those amenities.

You can always call NCL and check with them if they can change the room. If there are any open staterooms they should be able to switch the staterooms as long as it's in the same category.

Here is the link to all the staterooms. You can read the description and features for your stateroom
http://www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/freestyle-accommodations

The amenities the ship's stateroom is just as in any hotel. Mini-fridge, phone, TV, coffee maker (not in inside & ocean view staterooms), ice bucket, beach towels, mini-safe, hair dryer, liquid soap and shampoo.
