Question

When do I get assigned my stateroom when it's GTY?

GTY is for guarantee accommodation. The rate you got the room is a discount rate which means that the room will be assigned any time after the final payment is done. In some cases, the cabin may be assigned at the time of check-in. Log into your NCL account and check often for updates.

It will vary from cruise to cruise. Usually, a week or two prior to departure.

Any recommendations for a great balcony location? At the moment we're booked with a 'GTY' status, thinking of changing.

From a view perspective any balcony will be nice. Location depends more on where you'd prefer to be. For example, do you want to be closer to the action on decks 6-8 or outdoor venues on deck 15 and higher. Are you prone to motion sickness where mid ship and lower decks have less motion. Do you want to be close to the stairs/elevators and do you want to be away from venues which may have late night music (i.e., Fat Cats)..

If you want to pick your room, you may have to pay a higher price than the GTY cabin rate.

As far as the location of the balcony is concerned, it comes down to personal preference. For me. I don't care if the cabin is in the port or starboard side, front or aft section. I suggest picking one location for this cruise and on your next cruise pick another location and see if you have a preference.

Breakaway from NYC to Bermuda - trying to schedule ground transportation at the end of our cruise, what time should I plan on getting off the boat?

Normally, the ships dock early in the morning and they allow passengers to disembark around 8 AM. If you decide to carry your bags off the ship, you will be the first to disembark after the VIP guests. If you have too many bags, get the early dismemberment tags on the last night of the cruise. To make disembarkation easy, NCL uses color coded bag tags which specify the disembarkation time on it. That way you will be able to disembark after the people who carry their own bags are off the ship. Collect your bags on the port and go through custom and immigration.
If you are not in a hurry, you can pick up the tags for 9 AM or 9:30 AM time slot disembarkation. Add another 20-30 min to collect your bags and go through customs.

Suite guests followed by passengers walking off with their luggage are the first to disembark. Remaining passengers disembark in 20-30 minute intervals, based on the time slot they chose a day or two before return, beginning about 30-45 minutes after return to port. Usually the ship is cleared of all passengers within 2-3 hours of return to port. Note, limo, taxi or private pickup is across 12th avenue from the pier.

Question

On board credit.

I have on board credit, and If I link my room and the other room to my cc, how does the on board credit being credit? Will both room credit goes to my cc at the end of the cruise?

The onboard credit you have will be deducted from any expense you have onboard the ship like shore excursion booking, specialty restaurant dining, drinks, shopping, service charge etc. You won't get a refund for it.
When you check-in at the port, they will ask you for a credit card to setup your onboard expense account. Any expenses you have will be billed to your room and in turn to your credit card. Any credits you have will be deducted from the final total.

Yes, each room account will be credited accordingly and billed to your cc at the end of the cruise. You can also keep tabs on your room accounts via the TV, iConcierge app or asking for a printout from guest services at any time during your cruise.

Question

Is the front of the ship really rough compared to midship?

No. The ships are so large and so stable that most people barely notice any motion at all. Fore and aft locations display slightly more pitch (front to back) action, and higher decks a little more roll (left to right), but most of the time you won't even notice the motion, much less tell the difference between locations.

IMHO, I don't think it makes a difference. In the front of the ship, the ship moves a little more because it hits the waves head-on. It is still quite negligible.
The ships, especially large ships like the Breakaway, are very stable just because of it's size. The ships also use ballasts and stabilizer fins to dampen the effect on the ship. However, in bad weather, the ship will rock, irrespective of where you are on the ship.

Hi there! This ship is very casual for dining, except for the Captain's Night (should you choose to dress up for that), and for the specialty restaurants. In those restaurants, a Polo shirt or collared shirt with jeans or khakis should be fine.

UDP - If reservations are cross-referenced can I reserve diing for both parties?

We are traveling with another couple. I have had our resevations cross referenced. Both couples have purchased the UDP.

With our reservations cross referenced will I be able to reserve dining times for both couples via My NCL on line?

Since both couples have purchased the UDP you can make the reservations under your reservation for a table of 4.
Restaurants will be available to pre-book beginning at 90 days prior to sailing (100 Days prior for guests in The Haven and Suites)

Presently, I don't think you can make reservations before the cruise starts with the UDP. However, it is easy to get dinner reservations on the ship and you can make dinner reservations on the first day for your entire cruise.
I have walked into the restaurant without a reservation and got a table if you avoid the peak hours of 7-8:30 PM.

All NCL ships have Wi-Fi.
You can purchase minutes in blocks of 30/60/100/250 or pay as you use.
Remember that the ship uses satellite communication for internet connection and it's quite slow.
