Question

are there any free room upgrades at this time?

I booked a cruice in Oct 13 for an inside cabin on the 5th deck. Feb 14 I noticed that I can get the same price for a balcony so I called NCL and they upgraded me, increased my on board spending money from $25 to $100 and I even got around $50 bucks back. So I would call if you see the price down. Now I am departing soon and the price is back up. That is why I always book early get a better room and can always upgrade a few months before cruise but that is a gamble, but people do gamble on this ship.

The free category upgrade offer is only available at the time of booking, if they are running that promotion at that time. You could call NCL and check with them if you can upgrade for no charge. I doubt that you will get an upgrade but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Question

Is O'Sheehan's still open?

I haven't seen anything about the restaurant but I know it's on the breakaway. I'm going to Florida and the Bahamas in two weeks and I was wondering if there was a 24 hour place to eat.
Thanks!

Yes. Milk & juices are complimentary. You can pick up the milk packs during breakfast hour from the buffet area and keep them in your stateroom fridge. You can also get them through room service. You will also get them at any restaurant onboard the ship.

We weren't on deck 11 but we were on deck 12 (12778) on our sailing last year - which was literally right by the stairs/elevators/splash academy entrance. We didn't have any issues with noise during our entire cruise (surprisingly).

We ended up booking our current Breakaway cruise on the same deck as a result of it. Given our proximity to that area, I would imagine being one deck down should also yield similar outcomes

Question

how does priority check in work?

answer 1
IN NYC, after you drop off your bags, there's a separate line for priority check-in, and then a separate row of stations for processing. If you're in a suite (assuming that with the priority check-in), you'll be escorted to a private waiting area with light beverages and snacks while you wait for someone to escort you onto the ship. For us on the Star, it was about a 5 minute wait.

Priority check-in is only for VIP guests staying in the suites. If you are staying in the suites, there is a separate check-in area where you don't have to wait in the queue to check-in. Once you are checked in, you will be allowed to board the ship before the other guests.

You cannot send your own bottle to any guest onboard the ship. However, check out the 'Gifts & More' section on NCL's website. It has a selection of wines & champagnes that can be added to the cruise package. You can pay for it and the bottle will be delivered to their stateroom when they embark the ship.

Question

Food Allergy accommodations?

How are accommodations for children with food allergies. I know they cater to gluten and dairy free diets but she has additional allergies. I was told I was not allowed to bring any food that needed to be heated up so I am very concerned about food on the boat as well as off the boat.

If you have special dietary requirements contact NCL about a month in advance and inform them about the dietary requirements. Follow up with NCL a week before the cruise as a reminder. Once on board, contact the restaurant manager to ensure that they are aware of it.

As far as getting your own food is concerned, you are not allowed to bring any home cooked food due to the risk of contamination. However, you are allowed to bring onboard food that is factory sealed.

Can you see the fireworks from your balcony room?

We're interested in a spa balcony room and I was wondering if we'd be able to see the fireworks from there.

If you are in the port side of the ship you will be able to see the fireworks from your balcony. The fireworks are aimed towards the back of the ship and slightly towards the port side. The best place to see will be anywhere on the top open decks.

Fireworks are done from the aft of the ship on the port (left side facing forward) side of the ship in Spice H20. Port side aft will provide the best view on the upper open decks but are also viewable from lower decks on the port side.

NCL has a "Corks and Caps Wine and Beer” package for unlimited beer and wine by the glass. There are some restrictions on buying the package.
Here are some more details on it
http://www.ncl.com/sites/default/files/Corks-and-Caps-08052013.pdf

Here's the link to NCL's wine list. http://www.ncl.com/sites/default/files/WineList_Fleetwide_071513.pdf

NCL doesn't publish the cost of beer and other alcoholic drinks but you can expect to pay what you would pay at a regular bar or restaurant.
