What does AFT before DECK 5 means?

It sounds like you're looking at your luggage tags. Aft is a nautical term for rear. It's printed on the luggage tag to help get your bags to your stateroom as quickly as possible. Some bags are loaded to the FWD, or foreward, section of the ship, and others to the AFT, or rear, part of the ship.

Do you want to confirm that your room # is 5210? The room # should show in your reservation. If there is no room #, then you have a GTY reservation which is for guaranteed accommodation but the stateroom will be assigned to you at a later date.
Here is the link to check out the deck plan and your stateroom floor plan along with generic pics of the room

Aft is a nautical term for back end of the ship. Port is left and starboard is right.

Regular coffee is complimentary at all meals/venues on the ship. Specialty coffee (e.g., lattes, cappucinos, etc.) must be purchased usually at the Atrium Cafe & Bar.

Yes, coffee is complimentary and is available at all restaurants on the ship. If you are staying in a balcony or higher class of stateroom (not in an inside & ocean view stateroom) there is a coffee machine in your stateroom.

Need input about tipping The Haven staff

We are booked in The Haven for a 7 day cruise from NYC to Bermuda and would like to know what other Haven guests think is appropriate for calculating the tip amounts for The Haven staff. Specifically, how do you decide the amount to provide to your butler, your concierge, and your stateroom steward?

We have just returned from Getaway and leaving in a couple of weeks on Breakaway we have been many times and always stay Haven We have a relationship with many of the staff but even from day one when they first came into service this is my formula I give $100.00 on day one as soon as we go up to both Concierge's My butler and Steward plus they all get additional cash all throughout the trip depending on how much they do == at the end each get another 100.00 Everyone gets tipped for something service staff Haven restaurant and Bar staff I tip for every drink every meal---- on Getaway i went for over 2000.00 in cash tips on a weeks cruise worth every penny Plus the Casino staff all get greased for everything

We were in The Haven on the Breakaway in January, and we heard many comments on this. There is no requirement that you offer a gratuity, as the daily service charge is greater for guests in The Haven than it is for guests in the rest of the ship, and the additional amount is intended to provide for the additional service you may expect in The Haven. Many guests, however, do offer an additional tip at their discretion. The amount probably should be commensurate with what you might offer similar staff members at a luxury hotel for a week long stay. It may not be proper in a forum such as this to go into more specific detail of suggested amounts.

Yes, there is a comedian, as well as a "comedy" hypnotist on the Breakaway's current Caribbean cruise. Each performs in the main theater, and no tickets are required. It is first come, first seated. Entertainment options change from time to time, so your cruise may feature different acts.

The Second City has stand up comedy shows in the Headliner comedy club located on deck 6. Tickets should be available for the show 90 days (100 days for suites) before your cruise sail date. If you aren't able to get tickets online make sure you get the tickets once you are on the ship.

In general, you can expect the weather to be in high 70s in NY and mid 80s in Bermuda.
It is always best to check the weather on any weather related websites. Most websites will give you an average monthly temp for you get an idea on what to expect.
A couple of days before your cruise, you can check the websites for detailed weather forecast including rain predictions.

NCL has not yet announced plans for next year's Super Bowl, but it is likely they will be similar to this year's. We were on the Breakaway for Super Bowl 50. The game was shown on a number of screens in most of the bars, as well as on the big screens in the atrium and Spice H2O. It also was available for viewing on all stateroom TVs. There really were no special parties, but food and beverages were plentiful at all venues on board.

The butler's job is to take care of all of your needs and requests within your suite except for cleaning which is done by a cabin steward. The butler will help you unpack and pack your luggage, keep your suite stocked with beverages, deliver food and beverage orders, serve you breakfast, lunch & dinner if you prefer to have it in your room, etc.
The concierge will make specialty restaurant reservations, book shore excursions, provide reserved seating in the theater, and provide information of all onboard activities.

The Haven guests have special room service menu that will be available onboard the ship. You will need to check with your butler if they can arrange for specific dinners from specialty restaurants.

Soft drinks

Wondering whether to try to bring some soft drinks on board.

How much do soft drinks cost on board?

Is there an 18% gratuity charged for each can ordered?

If you want anything other than Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sprite, or ginger ale, bring your own onboard since those are all they serve. Soft drinks are only served fountain style and are subject to the 18% gratuity. A room service fee also applies if you order that way. Canned/bottled soft drinks are not available. Not sure of the price since they were included with our beverage package but I think they were about $3 per 10 ounce serving. I had no problem bringing my own Dr. Pepper aboard.

The answer to the question depends on how much do you really expect to drink on the ship. If you are having one soda per day, it probably would be more of a hassle to carry a case of soda with you. If you drink more than one soda per day it will work out cheaper to bring a case with you.
The cost is what you would expect to pay at any regular restaurant and they don't add a gratuity charge.

As a side note, I believe NY is one of the two ports where they don't allow you to check-in water and soda cases along with your checked luggage (due to port restrictions). However, you can put the case in your carry on luggage and carry it with you.
