Pier 88
12th Avenue and 55th Street
There is ample parking available right at the pier, the rate at this time of writing is $40/day and is safe and secure.

PICKUP IN NY

WHERE EXACTLY SHOULD WE TELL RIDE TO PICK US UP AT PIER

Pier 88
12th Avenue and 55th Street; it is set up much like an airport, departures on one level, arrivals on another level.
To avoid crowds you could meet across the street from the pier, but the cruisers would have to carry their luggage with them.

The port has been restricting traffic entering the terminal, and arriving passengers have been sent out across 12th avenue to wait for pickup. Pier 88 - the southernmost - is at 48th street, but it gets very hectic there, as there's also a cab stand there. I found we were better off walking a few blocks north or south, finding a quieter area and telling my driver where we were.

Question

What time will someone be able to pick us up when we arrive back in New York on 3/2

My husband is driving up from Philadelphia to pick me up following my cruise and we are trying to plan so that neither of us have a long wait.

Normally, the ships dock early in the morning and they allow passengers to disembark around 8 AM. The disembarkation starts after the ship is cleared by customs. NCL uses color coded bag tags each with a different time slot for disembarkation. You can pick the time slot that is convenient for you. The last passenger will disembark about 2.5-3 hours after disembarkation starts.
You can plan to disembark around 9:30 or 10 AM. That way you are not rushing to get off the ship in the morning and it will give your family members enough time to get to NY,

Depending on when the ship arrives, it usually takes about 30 mins to clear customs; then if you decide to carry your own luggage off you can be one of the first ones off the ship, (or you can leave at any time you desire) which on average is about 8:30am. It has been my experience that more people than usual carry off their luggage than in any other port. Customs usually goes pretty quickly, but I would say a safe time would be 9-9:30am, I would leave yourself about 30 mins to get off the ship and curbside.

Beaches?

How far are the beaches from the pier in Bermuda?

Also, which beaches are best to go to?

My favorite beach is Elbow Beach. You would have to use the public access road past the Elbow Beach resort. The most popular is probably Horseshoe Bay. If you like waves, they are better at Elbow but no lifeguards. If you're renting mopeds you can check out many beautiful beaches along the south shore. Just take a ride down some of the access roads and explore. One morning I sat alone at a south shore beach that did have so much as a footprint there. It was very secluded and it was pristine. Mopeds are best way to go. Bus system in Bermuda is quite good also. Bus stops indicated by blue & pink poles. If the top is pink bus is going toward Hamilton & blue tops means going away from Hamilton. Cabs are a little pricey but most drivers are happy to answer questions so you can also learn something about the island with most drivers.

As far as distance, depends on which pier as there are 3 cruise piers in Bermuda. Of the beaches mentioned Elbow is closest to Hamilton. (about 10 minutes) Horseshore Bay would be closest to Dockyard. Both of them are too far from St. George. I haven't spent much time on that end of the island.

Nothing is far in Bermuda - it's only about 20 miles end to end. Our favorite beaches are Horseshoe Bay between Dockyard and Hamilton, and Tobacco Bay in St. George's.

Snorkel Park Beach at the Dockyard is the only beach within walking distance. All others are primarily on the South Shore at least 10 miles away. You can get a bus or taxi from the Dockyard to Horseshoe Bay Beach which has changing facilities, snack bar, beach umbrella rentals, etc. It's one of the best beaches on the island. Bus/Ferry day passes can be purchased at the Dockyard.

The best beaches are Elbow Beach, Chaplin Bay, Horseshoe Bay are some of the best beaches. All of them are accessible using the local buses. I believe it is route # 7 (check on it). You can buy multi-day bus pass or single ride tokens.
Snorkel park beach is within walking distance of the beach but there is a small charge to use the beach and IMHO, it's not the best beach around.

It's crew access only. As it's located directly beneath the main galley (kitchen) on deck six, I'd guess its part of the food preparation area.

Is the drink package worth the price?

answer 1
It depends on the individuals who purchase the package and their drinking habits and what they drink while on a cruise. If you only have 1 or 2 a day it's not worth it. Beer only versus cocktails makes a difference also as well as sea versus port days. You need to estimate for yourself to determine if it's worthwhile.

Most balconies are not deep enough to accommodate lounges. They're set up with two chairs and a small table. If balcony size is important to you, you might want the large balcony cabins (B6) on deck 9 or the mini-suite with large balcony (M6) on deck 8. I believe they're both equipped with lounges.

answer 1
All NCL ships have Wi-Fi. However since the ship is mostly metal, the Wi-Fi signal may not be the best at all places.
You can purchase minutes in blocks of 30/60/100/250 or pay as you use.
Remember that the ship uses satellite communication for internet connection and it's quite slow.

Yes, but Wifi is not free, it is a satellite connection which can be slow and reception on the ship varies depending on your location on the ship.
