Question

Can I bring a beach umbrella aboard for Great Stirrup Cay

You can bring an umbrella but it will be a hassle to carry it around. You have to use tender boats to reach the island.
There are a few beach chairs that have covers. If you reach early, you may be lucky to get them and avoid carrying the umbrella.

Does mouthwash have to be brand new?

Does my mouthwash have to be brand new and sealed or can I bring my mouthwash I am already using from home?

I would suggest carrying an unopened bottle. You can always get a travel sized bottle. In general they are not that strict about it and if it is in your suitcase, they probably won't check it but if you do have to open your bags do you really want to go through the hassle on explaining why it wasn't sealed?

You are allowed to smoke in designated smoking areas outside the ship, in the casino and in your balcony but not in your stateroom. If the ship has cigar bars, you can smoke cigars in the bars or designated smoking lounge. Cigar smoking is not allowed in your stateroom or your balcony.

The last cruise before the Breakaway goes from Bahamas to Bermuda is a double cruise. First week is to Florida and Bahamas and next is to Bermuda.

You would need to book the next cruise following yours for a back-to-back cruise and would be contingent upon availability. Contact NCL Reservations or your travel agent depending on who you booked with initially.

Question

18 Years of Age and Alcohol?

If you are traveling with a different family than yours, how do you set up the waiver that allows you to drink alcohol as an 18 year old? Do you need to provide a written note from your parents that says you are allowed to purchase alcohol or can the family I am traveling with sign?

as an addendum, I was looking for some other information today and came across this from the NCL website around terms and conditions -- pretty much supports what I already posted about having a notarized letter from their parents:

Minors

A passenger under 18 years of age must be accompanied in the same or connecting stateroom by a passenger 18 years or older who expressly agrees to be responsible for the under 18 passenger throughout the cruise. This includes, but is not limited to, preventing the purchase or consumption of alcohol and preventing the violation of any ship rules. If the accompanying adult is not the minor's parent or legal guardian, an original, notarized parental/guardian consent letter that authorizes the minor's travel and further authorizes medical treatment in case of an emergency must be delivered to a Norwegian Cruise Line representative at the pier.

You should probably have a notarized affadavit from the parents that give you authority to make any decisions on behalf of them -- including items like emergency medical treatment. We've done that when we leave our kids with family to remove any doubt should something happen (fortunately, it hasn't).

You cannot bring your own liquor onboard the ship. Any liquor you bring onboard the ship will be confiscated by the ship's security and returned to you on the last night of the cruise. Same is true for any liquor you purchase at any of the ports you visit.
However, you are allowed to bring wine and champagne onboard the ship but there is a corkage fee ranging from $15-$30 per bottle.

15% is added to the total of the package. So to answer your question I suppose that would be per day.

Just go and enjoy yourself. The cruise is what you make of it. Remember that you are on vacation and take things in stride. Everything may not work as you have planned. In 2011 we were to go to Bermuda which we love, but due to a potential hurricane we were rerouted to the Florida/Bahama itinerary. We cruised that route 4 times before and it's not our favorite. We had an enjoyable relaxing time. Only got off the ship for about 2 hours in Nassau.

Enjoy it! You can't help it, you will feel the ship moving because, well, it is moving... If you happen to come across some big seas, understand, these ships are very sea worthy and while you may feel uncomfortable the ship is safe. Think of a ship like a rubber duck, no matter how hard you try, you can't tip it over. A ship is designed and built very much with this same theory.

No need to be nervous, just relax and enjoy the cruise. Following are some tips.

* Staterooms mid-ship have the least motion.
* Be flexible in what you do and when (i.e., dine when it's not peak hours of 7-8:30 which is the most crowded in the dining venues.)
* If you're prone to motion sickness bring medications or check on board at guest services. Food items such as green apples, saltines, ginger ale alleviate upset stomachs.
* Review the daily activity sheet left in your room for things to do each day.
* Book any shore excursion you don't want to miss out on prior to departure. Popular ones book quickly.
* Research the Bermuda tourism web site for things to do and transportation (i.e., 1,2 or 3 day all you can ride pass).
____There are buses to Horseshoe Bay Beach, the best free beach.
____Ferries to St. George's & Hamilton.
* Become familiar with the ship via the following NCL links:
