Dry cleaning and laundry services are available on all ships. There is no self service laundry services. Pricing for laundry services will be available onboard.

answer 2
No. There are no self-service laundries. All ships offer laundry, dry clean & pressing services. They have laundry bags in your stateroom that you can give to the cabin stewards. Usually around the middle of the cruise they offer discounts on the services.
However, I wouldn't use it for any delicate or expensive dresses.

answer 2
All NCL ships have Wi-Fi. However since the ship is mostly metal, the Wi-Fi signal may not be the best at all places.
You can purchase minutes in blocks of 30/60/100/250 or pay as you use.
Remember that the ship uses satellite communication for internet connection and it's quite slow.

Meals on the Gem

Are there different options on the menu in the main dinning room each evening, or are the menus the same each night?

They have one part of the menu that changes each day and one that stays the same. They post a copy of the menu outside of each dining room before lunch each day which allows you to plan where you want to eat.

It is a combination of both. There will be some choices that repeat but there will also be selections that change each night. It used to be one side for the everyday menu & one side for the just that day menu. The menus in the 2 main dining rooms may be different from each other as well. They will be posted so you can decide which dining room you wish to go to.

There are two pages to the menus in the main dining rooms, each with several choices. One page stays the same throughout the cruise, the other changes nightly.

Yes, if you don't see one in the bathroom check the vanity drawers. If for some reason there isn't one you need only ask your steward for one to have it provided.

Thanks to all of you for the answers.
I had that question because I was on the Norvegian Epic and we had to reserve for the 3 différents shows They had so no shows every night.
I suppose that the 7 o'clock show and the 9;30 one are the same on a night.

The Gem usually has two free shows every night - one around 7:00, the other around 9:30. Details will be listed in the Freestyle Daily every night for the next day's shows. Reservations are not taken. The shows are first come, first seated.

Yes. The main theater has a show every night of the cruise. The first show is at 7 PM with an encore presentation at 9:30 PM.
You cannot make reservations for the show. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. The doors open 30 minutes prior to the show.

No. Due to fire hazard issues, the staterooms do not have clothes iron and you are not allowed to bring irons on board the ship. However, you can request the Guest Services Desk or the cabin stewards they will be happy to bring you an iron and ironing board for a few hours.

Question

Mail addressed to my son?

If I am the primary traveller and THE Silver Latitudes member, why is all the mail about our booked cruise coming addressed to my son? It's.My 4th cruise with NCL and its making me think it's chauvinistic, lol. I called, I booked, I'm paying. Has this happened to anyone else?

You son gets mailers from NCL? I was under the assumption that NCL had stopped sending booklets about the booked cruises and all information is now available along with your e-docs.
In any case, it's possible that when you originally cruised for the first time, your son may have been setup as the primary contact. I would suggest calling NCL and checking with them. They should be able to change the names.

Question

What is an enclosed balcony

asked 11 months ago

answer 1
I just returned from the Gem in Mid-January and had an enclosed balcony. I essentially they cut the balcony out of the hull, so there is some of the hull surrounding the balcony. I actually found this to be beneficial because the balcony was not as windy as a normal open balcony. The balcony is the same size, you just have a little extra covering around the top and side.

Some of the balcony staterooms that are located towards the front or back of the ship have balcony staterooms where the metal hull of the ship forms an enclosure for the balcony. You will still be able to sit outside in the balcony. The advantage is that you have a little more privacy in the balcony compared to a regular balcony stateroom.
Take a look at a pic of the ship from outside and you will get an idea of how the enclosed balcony will look from outside.

The opening for an enclosed balcony is actually cut out of the hull and has less of an opening than a regular balcony.
