Has anyone done a cruise to nowhere? I want ideas on how to maximize my time.

It depends on how you want to spend your time. Everyone is going to be trying to do the same thing. Most people might be eating early so they can get to the club, so you would want to eat later to avoid the crowd.

Get to the dock early and be one of the 1st ones on the ship. We boarded around 12 when i went in January. Go straight to lunch because it will get very crowded very quickly. Go to your room and get the freestyle daily and pick what you want to do. Then get out and explore. There is plenty of time to do a bunch of stuff. The White Hot party is awesome!!

It's just like a sea day on any other cruise. Check out the events in the freestyle daily and plan accordingly.

Google "cruise roll call" and you will find several cruise related forums that you may join where you can meet people before your cruise.

Only those booked in the rooms that have the Cagney's breakfast and lunch perk are allowed in.

answer 2
Cagney's breakfast & lunch are typically reserved for suite guests - those who paid for the perk in their cruisefare. Imagine if only half of the suites had non-suite friends they wanted to bring with them. It would fill up Cagney's quickly and lead to problems with those who paid for the perk.

On all NCL cruises I have been on, the pool and hot tubs were closed for rough seas so no one was injured. Other than that they were open.

WHAT TIME IS EMBACATION AND DISEMBARCATION?

asked 10 months ago
by
tdadams

answer 1
Check your cruise details for the exact times. The times vary by port and by itinerary.
In general, the check-in process usually starts at around 11 AM and they will let you board the ship around 12 noon. However, you will not be allowed into your staterooms until 2-3 PM to give the staff enough time to clean the rooms. You can have lunch on board the ship and explore the public areas of the ship.
The normal disembarkation time is 8 AM but in some ports disembarkation starts at 5 AM

All depends on the dates of your trip, but basically the ship departs around 4 or 5pm; boarding usually begins by noon; and arrival is usually 8am, and if you walk off with your luggage you will be one of the first off; otherwise departure will be anywhere between 8:30am - 10am.
All times are estimates and subject to change.

Depends on the cruise and port. Check your itinerary. You usually need to be onboard about an hour prior to sailing.

tours of the kitchens

our son is heading to culinary school in the fall and we were wondering if the ships would offer a tour of the kitchens?

The head chef gave us a very extensive tour of the galley the day after the Chef's Table. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend signing up for it as soon as you board the ship - especially since your son is attending culinary school. The Chef presents each dish and explains the process behind it.

Most all NCL ships do offer a behind the scenes tour of the ship for a fee, one of the stops on the tour is the Galley where you will speak with one of the top people in charge of the area. They probably spend 20-30 mins in each area visited, photo's are permitted in most areas.

Usually there is a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the kitchen & a couple of other areas of the ship during the cruise for a fee. It does not include secure areas such as the bridge & engine room. Details will be listed in the daily activity sheet or you can check with guest services.

There are a bunch of different places to meet up. Depending on what time you want to meet up, you could meet in the spinnaker or bliss lounges. Weather permitting you could meet up on the sun/pool decks on deck 12 or 13.

Any of the inside lounges would be good, but it is tough to pick one because you don't know if anything is going on at the time you want to meet.

You are cruising free style. There are no restrictions for doing anything on the ship. White clothes for the white hot party is just a suggestion and not a requirement. You are allowed to wear anything you want.

I went last year and everyone wore white clothes. They are available on the ship most people who attended wore white to the disco where this was taken place If you did not attend the white party you could wear anything . The people who attended the white night was in a disco or confined to a bar or disco . They then wore all white even a white Tee shirt, and white pants were acceptable. If you plant to attend that is your choice. Hope I help
