Unfortunately, the NCL Executive Office removed Alexandria off of the itinerary until April. In my opinion, Cairo was why most people booked their trip, and it was very disappointing to find out. I have friends living in Cairo, and all have informed me it is as safe as always, and it was more media hype than anything. There was many protests a couple months ago, but now they've dissipated, next month, even safer. It sounds like a premature decision taken by the executives to me.
i booked a shore excursion before to Cairo with a great travel agent this month i wish to be great, friend recommend this company to me and think its very friendly and lovely because they answer me very quickly and they work 24/7 days a week i think it would be gladful from them to organize my trip.

We are sailing on 12 January 2013 and have been informed that the cruise is no longer going to Egypt because it is unsafe apparently. Very, very upset to miss this country!!
I am cruising jan 2, 2013, and have already booked my excursion to Cairo. I was in Cairo during the revolution and felt safe. I would recommend seeing Cairo via a NCL recognized tour group. Go have fun, but be aware of your surroundings.
It is always good idea to book the shore excursion through NCL. NCL pre-screens the companies and if there are issues they will make sure that the excursion is cancelled or use another company. I know that NCL has canceled visiting certain ports during periods of unrest.
