You can leave the ship at any port of call, however you must have your ship's cruise card on you in order to get past security at the port to return to the ship. Also if your country of citizenship requires that you have a visa or other entry document you should have those in your possession as well.

Everyone is free to get on and off the ship as much as you want up till departure time. There will be an all aboard time posted, usually 30 minutes before departure, don't miss the ship.

nope there is not requirement to have an excursion to leave the ship in port. There is no charge to leave. Just make sure you are back onboard in time for departure!

Not at all, you are free to enter and leave the ship as often as you would like, and you are free to explore on your own. While the ship excursions are usually great experience, they are not required to leave the ship.
