Question

Can I change a stateroom once it has been assigned?

Once the cabin (GTY) is assigned it cannot be change unless you are willing to pay more to move to a category where you will be able to pick your cabin.
If the pricing goes down for the category you are booked in you can check to see if there is availability for a complimentary upgrade.

Since the stateroom was assigned you must have a guaranteed stateroom category reservation where the stateroom is assigned at NCL's discretion. That said, if you want to change your stateroom it will likely change your cruise fare and you would need to contact NCL Reservations or your travel agent depending on who you booked with originally.

The best thing to do is to call and ask. It will probably cost you more and if you booked under a promotion it could cost you the benefits of the promotion too.

Not at every port. However, I have seen the pools drained completely and the crew scrubbing the bottom. I'm not sure how often it is done. Probably once a week or maybe once in two weeks.

The ship makes it's own water from sea water and it is better than most bottled water in my opinion.

On the ships, they use reverse osmosis to generate fresh water from sea water. The process removes any contaminants and germs. The water is used in the galley to prepare food, bars & restaurants. The same water is available through your faucet. It really is not necessary for you to filter the water.

That's up to you, I can only tell you it's safe to drink the tap water on the ship as it's filtered using reverse osmosis.

How quickly can the ship be exited at ports?

How can i set us up to be "first off the boat"? If the schedule says 8 am, can I be off the ship before 8:30?

If you want to disembark early, you can walk off the ship carrying your own bags. Once the ship is cleared by customs, the first to disembark are the VIP guests staying in the suites followed by the guests walking off the ship carrying their own bags. You could be dock side around 8:30-8:45.
The queue for guests walking off starts early. Make sure you are in the queue by at least 7:30 AM.

When you can leave the ship is up to the local customs and immigration force. No one can go ashore until they've cleared the ship. An announcement will be made when you can go ashore.

Question

Is the cork fee mandatory?

If the wine bottle has a twist top and not a cork, do I have to pay the "corkage fee"?
Also, do I carry on the wine or check it in the luggage?

Yes, you still pay the fee. The fee is to replace the lost revenue for the cruise line from you bringing your own bottle. Carry-on is best to avoid hassles.

Hi - I cruised back an March and yes all wine will have to pay the corkage fee. You should carry on the wine and when you check in they will take it from you and give you a receipt. You will then have to pay the corkage fee when you pick up the bottle(s). You can get that fee back on any bottles you don't open on the day of disembarkation.

Wine & champagne sales are a source of revenue for the ships, and loss of wine sales can depress earnings. For this reason, the ships charge a corkage fee equivalent to their cheapest bottle, to recoup at least some of the potential lost revenue. This practice is common in the restaurant industry where restaurants allow customers to bring their own wine to the restaurant.

Corkage fee is mandatory and is applied to all wine and champagne bottles including twist off caps. If you have the bottles in your checked luggage they will make you open the suitcases. I suggest carrying them in your carry on.

Corkage is not charged for the labor of removing a cork. It's charged for the privilege of bringing your own wine with you instead of buying theirs.

You'll pay the corkage fee at check-in, so I'd carry it with me.

There are lots of Halloween themed events and parties. There will be candy stations around the ship. Costume contests, scavenger hunts and other events for kids and adults. You can always bring your costumes and wear it to the parties but don't expect a lot of people to wear costumes - most people forget to pack their costumes.
