Check your cruise documents. Your assigned boarding time should be listed there. You may be allowed to board a bit early if there isn't a long line waiting, but you could be asked to wait if you arrive early.

Yes, liquid soap, shower gel, lotion and shampoo are all provided daily. The showers will have built in dispensers for shampoo and shower gel. They usually will provide bar soap as well - if not, it can be requested.

The amenities in the ship's stateroom are like any hotel. Mini-fridge, phone, TV, coffee maker (not in inside & ocean view staterooms), ice bucket, beach towels, mini-safe, hair dryer, liquid soap and shampoo.

Question

Can I bring a bottle of alcohol onboard? Also souvenirs?

Can I take alcohol onboard, either from the start of the trip (I.e. A bottle of wine) or as a souvenir at the various ports (I.e. Russian vodka, German beer etc)

Alcohol, yes; please keep in mind that they will tag the alcohol when you get back in the ship and will keep it until the last night of your journey. Souvenirs are also acceptable permitted they are not food, plants, etc.

Alcohol brought onboard, even as souvenirs, will be collected, held and returned to you at the end of the cruise.

The only exception is wine and champagne which can be taken to your stateroom but you will have to pay a corkage fee per bottle. Refer to the following link for details and fees.

http://www.ncl.com/faq#alcohol-consumption

Or check out NCL's wine list (link below) and purchase by the glass or bottle on the ship at any of the bars.

Question

Where outside the Norwegian Star is the smoking area? I am allergic and need to avoid it.

I want to make sure that my guaranteed balcony is not directly above or downwind of the smoking area. I know to avoid the Casino deck entirely, but I need to know where else to avoid so I am not sick the whole cruise.

The smoking areas are located on deck 7 and deck 12 and higher. Smoking is not allowed in stateroom balconies.

Question

Do the electrical outlets accept USA plugs, or do they require an adapter plug. You mention "converters" in the e-doc, but that is not the same.

You mention "converters" in the e-doc, but that is not the same as a simple adapter needed to plug a US appliance into a foreign socket. I have one for every country, but I do not want to take any unnecessary items.

All ships have 110 V and 220 V A/C. The connector is US prongs for 110 V and European style prongs for the 220 V.
You may need an adaptor for the prongs if you don't use the US or European style prongs.
The outlets are limited and are not located next to your bed. You may want to take an extension cord if you want to connect some device next to your bed.

Each stateroom features both US standard 110 volt and European standard 220 volt outlets. There usually are only one or two of each per cabin, and they sometimes are not conveniently located, so an extension cord may be useful. No other type of adapter is required.

Well, ahem, I splurged and stayed in a mini by myself and it was wonderful for the crossing and The Norwegian Fjords. The sofa is quite large and comfortable as was the bed. As to if 4 people were to stay there, I don't know. Having just spent 21 days in one I would say it is doable.

The rate you got the room is a discount rate which means that the room will be assigned any time after the final payment is done. In some cases, the cabin may be assigned at the time of check-in. Log into your NCL account and check often for updates.

For guaranteed stateroom reservations the stateroom will be assigned between now and when you check-in for your cruise. Check your reservation frequently prior to departure to see if it's been assigned via "My NCL".

There are plenty of vegetarian dishes available but they may not qualify as strictly vegan.

If you have any other special dietary requirements contact NCL about a month in advance and inform them about the dietary requirements. Follow up with NCL a week before the cruise as a reminder. Once on board, contact the restaurant manager to ensure that they are aware of it.
